Body of Review:
The Mill never quite made sense to me. Its central system seems to motivate people in one direction and then reward them for going in another. I understand what it's trying to say about the faceless corporation being the real villain, but that's a trope I've seen too many times, and the movie doesn't do enough with it to make it feel fresh.
More than anything, it feels like what a Hollywood screenwriter imagines office work is like. Corporate jobs can certainly be frustrating, bureaucratic and obsessed with metrics, but there's usually some internal logic behind the nonsense. And corporate life isn't one universal experience—different companies can have completely different cultures.
I watched it to the end, but mostly because I'd already started it and wanted to finish it. I wouldn't watch it again.
